Tortured Hearts (TM) is a largely non-linear role playing game of epic scope, with hundreds of areas, interactive NPCs, and quests. It is set in a new fantasy universe with a new cosmic hierarchy. The game is satirical and points fun at many gaming/RPG cliches, but the action is serious.
The protagonist is a jaded, thrill-seeking adventurer who is often set back on his/her heels by circumstances. For instance, being drugged, mugged, stripped, and dumped in a dung heap, which is where the story starts. From here the player has to rebuild his fortune; however, to a seasoned adventurer full of confidence, it doesn't seem to be a problem.
...Hardly enough to have to go to Hell and back...

Character development is more flexible than the usual class based, level system. Experience points can be traded as they accumulate to buy skill or ability increases. This game is for single player only. There are several henchmen available, and they are quite complex. They interact with each other and with other NPCs, as well as the PC, to create a realistic social experience, which can vary greatly depending on the party makeup and the behavior of the PC. Party experience is shared and the PC can control the development of the henchmen.
There is a certain amount of hacking and slashing and dungeon crawling, but the emphasis is on problem solving. There are different conversational options which will cause different opportunities for the player, and different outcomes. Estimated play time, 120+ hours.
